Jajamaru Ninpōchō: Jaleco Classic Famicom Title

Jajamaru Ninpōchō Jajamaru’s Ninja Scroll is a feudal Japanese action platformer published by Jaleco for the Famicom, part of the Jajamaru franchise. Players control young ninja Jajamaru traversing villages, mountain paths and haunted demon fortresses, wielding shuriken and melee strikes against bandits and yokai monsters.

Each themed stage features horizontal scrolling feudal landscapes. Jajamaru throws collectible shuriken against airborne foes and slashes ground enemies at close range. Rice ball pickups restore vitality, while hidden scroll chambers grant extra lives and expanded projectile reserves. Every world concludes with a multi-phase yokai boss duel.

Secret cave passages allow dedicated explorers to skip lengthy platform stretches. Later levels combine fast hopping yokai and narrow platforms demanding precise jump timing amid continuous incoming assaults.

Jaleco’s bright cartoon-style Edo-period tile graphics and playful traditional instrumental background music maintain lighthearted ninja adventure atmosphere.

Strategically, successful quest completion requires conserving shuriken for fast airborne yokai. Reliance purely on melee strikes leaves Jajamaru vulnerable to spectres out of weapon reach.

For contemporary Famicom retro ninja platform collectors, Jajamaru Ninpōchō is a core entry within Jaleco’s beloved Jajamaru ninja franchise.
