Home Alone

Home Alone for the NES, published by THQ, is based on the hit movie. You play as Kevin McCallister, defending his house from the Wet Bandits, Harry and Marv. The game is a side-scrolling action platformer where you set up traps, collect items, and avoid enemies. The first few levels are inside the house, where you place toys and objects to trip up the burglars. Later levels include the backyard and the infamous "boiler room." The gameplay involves exploring rooms, finding keys, and activating traps. A unique feature is the "trap" inventory – you can select from a variety of items like paint cans, micro machines, and tarantulas. The game has a time limit, and you must survive until the police arrive. A fun fact: the game was rushed to release alongside the film, resulting in a challenging and sometimes frustrating experience. The music is loosely based on the movie's score. Critics panned it for poor controls and confusing level design, but it gained a cult status. It also features a two-player mode where one controls Kevin and the other controls traps.
