Home Alone 2: Lost in New York is the sequel to the NES game, also published by THQ. It follows the movie's plot – Kevin is in New York City, facing the same burglars in a new setting. The gameplay is similar to the first: side-scrolling action with trap placement. However, this time the levels are set in hotels, toy stores, and Central Park. You collect items like firecrackers, slingshots, and a BB gun to fend off enemies. The controls are slightly improved, but the game retains the clunky feel. A new feature is the "tourist" mechanic – you can interact with NPCs for hints. The game has more diverse environments and better graphics than its predecessor. A trivia: the developers added a "camera" item that lets you take photos of enemies to stun them. The difficulty is high, with precise jumping required. Critics were not impressed, citing repetitive gameplay. However, fans of the film appreciate the nostalgic value. The soundtrack includes a rendition of the movie's theme. It supports two-player co-op, where each player controls a different version of Kevin.
