Hogan's Alley

Hogan's Alley is a light gun shooter developed by Nintendo for the NES, originally an arcade game. It is one of the launch titles for the Zapper accessory. The gameplay involves shooting at targets that pop up on screen – some are criminals, others are innocent civilians or police officers. You must shoot only the criminals (identified by their red outline) and avoid hitting the blue or white figures. The game has three modes: a quick-draw test, a gallery shooting, and a "trick shot" mode with moving targets. The perspective is first-person, and the backgrounds are static. The game was inspired by police training simulations. A fun fact: Hogan's Alley was named after the term for a shooting gallery used by law enforcement. The NES version lacks the arcade's voice effects but includes a save high score feature. It supports two players taking turns. The graphics are simple but effective. Critics enjoyed the precision required. It remains a nostalgic classic for fans of light gun games, often bundled with the Zapper.
