Hatris

Hatris is a puzzle game developed by Bullet-Proof Software, known as a spin-off of the legendary Tetris. Instead of falling blocks, you control falling hats. The goal is to stack hats of the same type in columns, and when a column has five identical hats, they disappear, scoring points. The hats come in various styles – top hats, cowboy hats, baseball caps, and more. The gameplay requires strategic placement because you can only move the pair of hats left or right, and you can swap their order. The game introduces a "fire" mechanic where you can burn hats, but at a cost. It was originally released for the Famicom in Japan and later brought to North America. A fun fact: Alexey Pajitnov, the creator of Tetris, also designed this game. The NES version includes a two-player competitive mode where you send "garbage hats" to your opponent. The game's difficulty escalates as the speed increases. The graphics are clean and colorful, with a whimsical presentation. Critics praised its originality but noted it didn't reach Tetris's addictive level. It remains a cult classic among puzzle enthusiasts.
